Jon S. Jacobs, O.D.
Dr. Jon Jacobs graduated from Emory University with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree. In 1970, he received a Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry.
Dr. Jacobs returned to his roots in South Florida in 1970 (graduate of Miami Beach High School) and opened his practice in Sunrise, Florida on April 3, 1972. In March, 2008, Dr. Jacobs and Dr. Shepard merged their optometric practices. Now, there are two locations to serve their patients.
Dr. Jacobs is married to Lydia and the Jacobs’ have five children; Jolie (Bryan), Scott, Jay (Kristin), Melanie (Glenn), and Jared (Monica). Their grandchildren are Jeremy, Jase, Joshua, Isabella, Bryce, Ellie, and Braelyn.
The optometrists of Florida have elected Dr. Jacobs to the offices of President of the Florida Optometric Association and twice President of the Broward County Optometric Association. Dr. Jacobs has received recognition as Florida Optometrist of the Decade, Florida Optometrist of the Year, and twice the Broward County Optometrist of the Year. In addition, he has served as Chairman of the Florida Board of Optometry, the state licensing board.
Dr. Jacobs specializes in difficult contact lens evaluations, daily wear and extended wear contact lens fittings, gas permeable contact lens fitting and specialty keratoconus and CRT (corneal refractive therapy) evaluations and fits.
Cynthia A. Hardy, O.D.
Dr. Cynthia Hardy graduated from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in 1999. Dr. Hardy was awarded the Welch-Allyn Award of Excellence and was initiated into Beta Kappa Honor Society. After graduation, she completed a one-year residency in ocular disease with an ophthalmology group.
Dr. Hardy is a member of the Broward County Optometric Association, Florida Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. She has been practicing at the office of Vision Source of East Broward since 2000. She is active in the Women’s Executive Club.
Kelly A. Fisher, O.D.
Dr. Kelly Fisher was born and raised in northeastern Pennsylvania and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Pennsylvania State University. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry, where she was a member of the Nova Optometric Practice Management Association. She is currently a member of the American Optometric Association, the Florida Optometric Association, and the Broward County Optometric Association. Dr. Fisher is board certified in the treatment of ocular disease and is certified to fit both soft and specialty contact lenses, including the Kerasoft IC, scleral and hybrid lenses for keratoconus. With her added passion and expertise in pediatric optometry and vision therapy, we welcome Dr. Fisher to Vision Source.
